The simplest way to check a carburetor for problems is to remove the cover and examine it for dirt (the top on most has a slotted screwdriver hole). Also remove the float and float valve pin and examine them for damage and the float needle (there is usually an adjustment for this but I find it seldom needs to be adjusted). Also blow out the carb with an air compressor and spray the insides with Berrymans carb cleaner.
